Chaos at Clybucca

Video by: Steve Skinner

The Clybucca changeover between Sydney and Brisbane is an accident waiting to happen.

Clybucca just north of Kempsey on the Pacific Highway is the main trailer changeover
point between Sydney and Brisbane.

For a couple of hours around midnight on weekdays it’s a dangerous place to be, as trucks pull in to the roadhouse area and battle to find a parking spot, while others are pulling out among straight-through trucks thundering past at 100 km/h – not all of them using
their CBs.

In response to concerns raised by drivers via Owner//Driver magazine, NSW Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has pledged to investigate the speed limit – and in this video you can see why.

The RMS failed to deliver on a pledge five years ago to increase the parking area for trailers.
