Truckstop of the month: Puma service centre at Kempsey

Puma Energy’s new service centre in Kempsey boasts impressive size and refuelling facilities.

Great location. Ease of access. Top facilities.

Puma Energy’s service centre at Kempsey in New South Wales has only been open since May 4, but already the positive reviews are coming in for the company’s flagship site.

Open 24/7, the centre is at the south end of Kempsey near the new bypass on the Pacific Highway.

The size is the first thing that grabs your attention, with a 149-space cark park and capacity to hold 25 B-doubles at one time.

“They [truck drivers] like the facility and they love the location, the location being centrally located between Brisbane and Sydney,” Puma Energy retail and sales manager Jay Riege says.

“It seems to be a bit of a changeover spot as well, just geographically the location seems to suit everybody, and ease of access off the highway as well.”

The centre features three ultra high-flow diesel pumps — which shoot out 145 litres a minute — and a single AdBlue hose.

Drivers who wander inside will find a dedicated truck drivers’ lounge featuring two showers and two toilets, a clothes washing machine, complimentary tea and coffee and television.

There is also a CCTV hooked up to a security camera at the rear of the centre so drivers can keep keep an eye on their trucks and cargo while relaxing.

Those in a hurry can grab a quick bite to eat at the McDonald’s, Red Rooster or Subway outlets adjoining the centre, while Puma’s Super 7 shop sells healthy ready-made salads and sandwiches along with hot food options.
