Victorian industry veteran Glen Cameron has been named personality of the year in the 2015 Australian Freight Industry Awards.

The managing director of the Glen Cameron Group, which operates around 850 trucks from depots around the country, earned the accolade for his ongoing advocacy and support for the industry.

Victorian Transport Association (VTA) CEO Peter Anderson says Cameron was selected from a wide range of high-calibre nominees.

"The quality of the more than 30 nominations that were received this year was exceptional, and on behalf of the VTA and the transport industry I congratulate award winners and nominees for their achievements and contributions to the industry," he says.

"Australian freight and logistics companies are doing phenomenal things every day, and these awards are an important way that we, as an industry, can recognise and celebrate the vital contribution of transport operators nationally to our community and our economy.

"I am continually amazed that the quality and calibre of nominations just gets better and better every year, which is proof positive that the industry is continually looking to improve and build on its achievements."
