Kenworth Dealer Hall of Fame extension honours Jim Hurley

A long-serving Kenworth dealer has put his name to the newest hall in Alice Springs.

The Kenworth Dealer Hall of Fame in Alice Springs has received a major extension on its 10th anniversary, opening a new 2,000 square-metre hall named after long-serving dealer Jim (JJ) Hurley from the Brown and Hurley Group.

Opened by Paccar Australia managing director Mike Dozier and National Road Transport Hall of Fame CEO Liz Martin, the extension, announced as the JJ Hurley Pavilion, brings the Hall of Fame’s display space to 4,000sqm with capability to hold over 25 trucks on a permanent basis and others in rotation.

“The Kenworth and Dealer Hall of Fame provides a fantastic venue for truck lovers of all persuasions to reflect on the long history of the Kenworth brand, and just some of the characters that have played a part in our journey – employees, suppliers, dealers, customers and drivers alike,” Dozier says.

“This opening marks the culmination of many months of hard work from a dedicated band committed to creating and curating a lasting record of Kenworth’s long history in Australia.”

The Hall of Fame truck range includes the first Australian built chassis, the Grey Ghost, and modern variants such as a T909 Director Series and a tri drive C509.

Dedications to the brand’s biggest dealers are also on display for visitors.

However, the Brown and Hurley Group, celebrating its 50th anniversary, were the toast of the launch.

“Congratulations to JJ Hurley,” Dozier says.

“This pavilion is a fitting tribute in recognition of his long and illustrious career.

“Congratulations also to everyone who has contributed to the ongoing journey of road transport in Australia.”

Located at 1 Norris Bell Drive, Alice Springs, the Kenworth Dealer Hall of Fame is part of the National Road Transport Hall of Fame.
