Brisbane flu season takes a toll on NHVR

Number of sick employees creates a backlog of work for the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.

 

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has fallen foul of Brisbane’s resurgent influenza.

The NHVR has advised of workarounds as it struggles with the weight of its responsibilities.

“Staff numbers at the NHVR have been impacted in recent weeks by a significant increase in sick leave absences across all program areas due to a flu virus currently being experienced across Brisbane,” it says.

“This has meant that, like many businesses in the city, our capacity in some of our key areas has been impacted.

“We have put strategies in place to manage the workload and ask industry for your understanding and patience as we work to maintain service levels and deal with the small backlog.”
