Trucking industry welcomes NHVR board reappointment

ATA CEO says the continuation of current board members gives reassurance to industry.

The body representing Australia’s trucking industry has welcomed the reappointment of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator’s (NHVR) board.

The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) says the reappointment shows a high degree of confidence in the board, which Bruce Baird chairs.

The NHVR announced yesterday the board had been appointed for a second term.

“This reappointment provides much needed reassurance to industry on the progress and permanence of the NHVR,” ATA CEO Chris Melham says.

“I would particularly like to congratulate Mr Peter Garske, the CEO of the Queensland Trucking Association, on his elevation to the position of deputy chair. I welcome his continued contributions to the NVHR reform program on behalf of industry.”

“The ATA looks forward to an ongoing constructive and productive dialogue with the reappointed board and its CEO, Sal Petroccitto.”

The board includes a mix of business and industry representatives. The NHVR says the reappointment ensures continuity and stability.
