Owner-driver Chris Pezzutti farewelled

Truck drivers paid a moving tribute to owner-driver Chris Pezzutti, who died suddenly.

Sydney owner-driver Chris Pezzutti was well known for his beautifully restored 1984 W model Kenworth that carted containers from the rail at Chullora.

His sudden and unexpected death on February 10 came as a great shock to his wife Narelle and three children – Jessica, Ryan and Jack.

Narelle described 49-year-old Chris as “a very honest, caring, loving husband and father”.

She says Chris loved the W model as if it was part of the family.

“He passed away in his truck. If it was ever going to happen, that would be the place where he would have liked to have been,” Narelle says.

More than 800 people attended Chris’ funeral at Regina Coeli Catholic Church in Beverley Hills on February 18.

During the funeral procession Narelle was moved to see 10 trucks assembled to pay tribute to Chris.

“On the side of the road the trucks had lined up and as the funeral procession went past they all blew their horns and stood at the front with their hands on their hearts. It was pretty amazing.”

Chris enjoyed attending classic truck events. In recent years he had shown great support for Haulin’ the Hume.

Founder of the classic truck run, Bruce Gunter, expressed shock and sadness in a moving Facebook post.

“Your legacy will live on amongst us,” Bruce wrote.
