Road Freight NSW launches forum and awards

The conference will discuss issues such as changes to GCCD, and chain of responsibility and contract laws

Registrations for the Road Freight New South Wales (RFNSW’s) inaugural forum opened today.

The road freight body has also launched its opening RFNSW Awards that aim to recognise outstanding industry professionals working in the NSW road transport industry.

“This is a not to be missed event for all road freight operators in NSW, as attendees will receive critical updates about the road freight industry and find out about how upcoming changes to road and freight laws could affect your business,” RFNSW GM Simon O’Hara says.

NSW roads and freight minister Duncan Gay will open the NSW Road Freight Forum, followed by sessions focussed on various industry issues including:

  • changes to the NSW General Contract Carriers Determination (GCCD)
  • chain of responsibility and contract laws
  • technical advice and industry best practice.

“We will hear from industry experts and NSW policy makers on these vital topics, while networking with other road freight businesses,” O’Hara says.

RFNSW is also inviting nominations for the 2016 Awards in the following three categories:

  • Outstanding Contribution to the NSW Trucking Industry,
  • NSW Professional Driver of the Year
  • NSW Transport Women of the Year.

Both events will be held on September 7 at the Rooty Hill RSL in Sydney.

The winners of this year’s awards will be nominated for the 2017 National Trucking Industry Awards.
