Fiery B-double and crane crash closes M1 northbound

Two drivers have escaped with minor injuries after a crane and a B-double collided in the northbound lanes of the M1 at Brooklyn this morning.

The crash happened shortly after 4am (Tuesday 31 January 2017), on the M1 Motorway about 2km south of the Hawkesbury River, when the vehicles collided and a fire engulfed the vehicles.

Reports are suggesting the road is expected to be closed until as late as 3pm.

The fire has now been extinguished but both vehicles are blocking all lanes between the cliff face and the median strip.

One driver has been taken to Gosford Hospital with minor injuries; the second driver escaped injury.

All northbound lanes are blocked and traffic is being diverted via the Old Pacific Highway.

Southbound traffic is not affected.
