Fancy five million lb-ft of torque?

While engine torque is something none of us can get enough of, the world's largest diesel has more than you could ever need!

The Wärtsilä RT-flex96C is the largest piston engine in the world, weighing in at more than 2,300 tonnes and standing 13.5 metres tall.

The 14-cylinder two-stroke diesel engine is designed to run in large container shops, making peak torque for extended periods of time.

The most amazing thing is that this engine makes up to 108,920hp and 5,608,310 lb-ft of torque at just 102 rpm.

With pistons weighing 5.5 tonnes each, you’d assume this donk chugs a fair bit of juice. You’d be right…it uses up to 250 tonnes of fuel per day!

Good luck footing that fuel bill!
