For the kids: Get involved in the Camp Quality Convoy

The Camp Quality Convoy Victoria is a one day event that’s now in its third year, aimed at helping kids and their families struggling through the toughest battle of their lives – cancer.

The event is taking place on Sunday 30th April and it’s the biggest convoy Victoria will see, with an estimated 500 trucks and motorcycles set to show.

The convoy takes hundreds of trucks and motorbikes from Avalon Airport to Tabcorp Park in Melton, where the festivities roll on with the Family Fun Day.

This year Camp Quality hope to top last year’s $140,000 by raising $150,000, enough to help support 58 children and their families throughout their cancer journey.

Camp Quality Fundraising Specialist and Event Organiser Jo Mckeown says at the end of the day the convoy is all about the kids.

“Camp Quality is all about letting kids be kids!” Jo said.

“When kids are impacted by cancer, either their own or someone they love’s, they can miss out on a lot of the things that other kids accept as normal.

“Camp Quality focuses on providing programs where kids can just be kids.”

Jo and the team at Camp Quality have been overwhelmed with the support of the transport industry, and hopes 2017 will be their biggest year yet.

“We are proud of the overwhelming support of the trucking and motorbike communities.

“We have set ourselves some really big targets for 2017 and we’d love your support to help us achieve our goal of 500 trucks and bikes in the Convoy.”

Rach Benson-Lintzos, volunteer and partner of well-known truckie Steve Lintzos, has also been instrumental in organising the convoy and says it’s something that’s close to her heart.

“My partner and I can’t have children, so any event we can have the trucks at, we’ll jump at it.

“We do as much as we can to help children and we’ve organised things like a Touch a Truck day in the past.

“We barely leave the house unless it’s to go to a truck show!”
