Don't forget to ask those around you, "R U OK?"

MaxiTRANS has comitted to donating 1% of the price of parts purchases, and trailers and truck bodies ordered on 14 September to the R U OK? charity, to a maximum of $15,000.

Participating are MaxiTRANS and Mildura Truck Centre trailer/body dealerships, as well as MaxiPARTS parts outlets.

The 14th marks the annual R U OK? Day, a day when the nation is encouraged to stop and ask people if they're okay, in a bid to help those struggling with life.

MaxiTRANS Managing Director and CEO Dean Jenkins says the choice to support R U OK? Day came after seeing how impactful the day was around the office.

"Mental health awareness and suicide prevention is something I’m very passionate about," he said.

"We planned to organise R U OK? Day events in each of our offices to pass on its message to our staff.

"Once we saw the value it could provide via a simple question, we opted to expand it even further, both to create additional awareness of the suicide prevention message to the transport industry and also to provide much needed funds to R U OK? for them to continue their important work."

Jenkins says he hopes the initiative raises plenty of money but insists the most important thing is asking the all-important question, ‘are you okay?’

"We sincerely hope that it’s an initiative that’s embraced by our customers on the way towards raising a valuable contribution on Thursday," he said.

"Most importantly, we implore everyone to turn to a family member, friend or colleague and ask "R U OK?". It could save a life."
