Apprentice of the Year: Joel wears uniform with pride

Brisbane-based Joel Handley from Cummins South Pacific’s Carole Park branch has taken out the coveted 2017 HVIA National Apprentice of the Year at the HVIA National Awards in Brisbane.

Joel’s win was announced following a tense countdown as Certificates of Merit were first handed to five of the finalists, and then High Distinction Certificates to two of the last three.

Chairman of Judges Bob Martin told the audience that it was clear that Joel wears his Cummins uniform with pride.

“Joel’s commitment to the Cummins workshop is an asset,” Mr Martin said.

“He is always ready to start the day and willing to work back after his shift or on the weekend to complete an urgent job.

“Joel demonstrates excellent skills in the use of Cummins online service tools. Before any repair, Joel completes a full safety assessment of his work area and abides by Cummins high safety values.

“Joel’s positive attitude and his dedication to his trade is what sets him apart from all others and makes him worthy of the title the 2017 National Apprentice of the Year.”
