New NHVR module to assist operators in COR obligations

Registration Services module allows operators to access registration and vehicle details

The NHVR has released a Registration Services module on its website as part of changes to Chain Of Responsibility (COR) duties in the Heavy Vehicle National Law (NHVL) starting today.

The free service on the NHVR Portal allows operators from each state and territory – bar the Northern Territory – with registered fleets to access and monitor their vehicle and registration details.

Registration Services allows users to: confirm that details recorded by transport authorities align with their own records; check registration changes and transfers have been processed correctly; forecast registration renewals and costs; and download or print vehicle records to provide to other parties in the supply chain.

Registration Services is the third online module as part of the NHVR Portal, after the Customer module and Road Manager module, aimed at assisting parties in the supply chain with their compliance efforts.

“This is a free service which will allow operators to confirm details recorded with transport authorities, check registration transfers and changes, and download or print vehicle records to provide to other parties in their supply chain,” NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto says.

“We’ve also released a series of videos to assist operators to use the Registration Services module.”

It’s noted that the information is read-only, and any changes to registration details or payments should be directed through the relevant state or territory authorities.

As of October 1, changes to the HVNL dictate that every party in the heavy vehicle transport supply chain is responsible for the safety of their transport activities, providing an obligation to, where reasonably practical, eliminate or minimise harm or risk.
