Expensive arvo: 103 in 50 zone

Last Friday an old Kenworth was clocked well over the speed limit, resulting in large fines

A 1970’s KENWORTH prime mover running bobtail was detected by police to be travelling at 103km/h in a 50km/h sign posted area.

Police attached to the Traffic Task Force were conducting speed enforcement on heavy vehicles along Peter Brock Drive, Eastern Creek, on Friday 30 November.

When stopped by Police the driver’s work diary was inspected and numerous issues were detected. The Heavy vehicle was downloaded and was found to have a top speed of 104.6km/h.

The driver was issued with following offences:

1. Class C vehicle excess speed limit by more the 45km/h, at $3691 and 6 months on the spot licence suspension.

2. Not start work dairy after starting work times three, at $661 each.

All offences totalled a whopping $5944 – an expensive afternoon for the driver.

The vehicles registration was not cancelled as the driver was not the owner of the truck.
