Bristow opens new trucking legal operation

Youthful support staff backs noted transport legal expert

The nation’s newest trucking-focused law firm, Bristow Legal, has just hung out it shingle.

The modest Brisbane-based operation is led by high-profile industry lawyer Gillian Bristow and kicks off with the support of two budding lawyers in Antonia Bellas and Penelope Bristow.

“I have started my own practice providing legal services to the heavy vehicle industry,” Gillian Bristow tells ATN.

“This move will not change the services I offer, nor my commitment to provide value for money, commercially focused advice.”

Bristow Legal offers four main service areas:

  • advice and dispute resolution
  • preparing contracts and other documentation
  • reviewing contracts
  • training services including on Chain of Responsibility (COR) issues.

Bristow is in demand as an industry speaker and will present at the National Road Transport Association (NatRoad) 2019 conference in Brisbane on May 15, just before the Brisbane Truck Show and at the show itself.

Bellas is in her final year of a dual Law/Arts (Political Science) degree at the University of Queensland. She has worked as a paralegal in commercial law and has experience as a research assistant to academic staff at the TC Beirne School of Law.

Penelope Bristow is in her final year of a dual Law/Science degree also at the University of Queensland. She has completed clerkships at law firms McCullough Robertson, Ashurst and Herbert Smith Freehills.
