Organisation thanks former incumbent as he focuses on own business
Allan Thornley has resigned as president of the National Road Transport Association (NatRoad) board.
As Thornley leaves to concentrate on his own business QMC Logistics MD Scott Davidson appointed in his place, the peak body reports.
“We would like to thank Allan for the commitment and personal investment he brought to the role over his term,” NatRoad CEO, Warren Clark says.
“Allan contributed immensely to the success of the Association and the broader transport industry.
“His inclusive leadership style has seen NatRoad forge strong and lasting relationships with our stakeholders and enhance our public profile significantly.”
From a background in automotive component manufacturing, Thornley moved into transport in 1984 where he enjoyed a variety of roles in predominantly long-haul businesses before joining Shaws Darwin Transport in 1997 and as the managing director from April 2011. Thornley has been a NatRoad director since 2010.
“I have spent nine years on the Board. I have enjoyed the experience of serving the Australian road transport community as well as the friendship and hard work of all those who have served on the Board over that time,” he says.
“I would like to thank all members for the opportunity to serve them and wish NatRoad the very best for the future.”

Davidson has been a NatRoad director of since 2014 and has taken a key role in the engagement and development of the association’s corporate partnerships.
“I would like to thank Allan for his leadership as president. Allan has been integral to the advances we have made as an Association over the last nine years,” he says.
“It is an honour to be appointed president of the National Road Transport Association.
“NatRoad and the board have a significant role to play in ensuring the best outcomes for our members and the wider Australian road transport industry.
“I welcome the opportunity to lead and guide the organization in its continued pursuit of that mission.”
