Video: A truck museum proposed for Shepparton, Victoria, will recognise the region’s trucking pioneers.
Transport identity Peter Hill is optimistic construction of a new truck museum will begin in Shepparton, Victoria, in May or June.
Hill is vice chair of Shepparton’s Museum of Vehicle Evolution (MOVE) which manages a successful motor museum at Shepparton and plans to build the new truck museum.
A team of trucking enthusiasts began exploring the concept of a truck museum in about 2012 and the project has advanced swiftly since 2017.
The $6.25 million truck museum will include a building for trucking exhibits and interactive displays. There will also be an outdoor undercover area.
It will be an extension to the existing Shepparton Motor Museum which is located at Emerald Bank, about 6km south of Shepparton’s CBD. The motor museum opened in 2011 and boasts an extensive collection of cars, bicycles, motorbikes, tractors and iconic Furphy water carts.

The Federal Government has committed $2.5 million to the truck museum. Greater Shepparton City Council has conditionally resolved to contribute $1.25 million.
Hill says the MOVE board has raised enough money to build a truck museum but is seeking a grant from the Victorian Government to fully implement its plans.
A local fundraising campaign has already raised over $1 million and Hill hopes to raise another $750,000 to ensure the museum becomes a “world standard facility”.
Shepparton businessman Jim Andreadis plans to donate the existing museum building to MOVE, as well as land for the proposed truck museum extension.
