The Brown and Hurley Group’s training department has been announced as a 2019 Regional Finalist of the Queensland Training Awards, South East Region. The winner of the award will be announced at the Gold Coast on Friday, July 5.

The Queensland Training Awards, which celebrates top achievers in training in the sunshine state, will celebrate its 58th year in 2019.

The awards, covering 14 categories, recognise individuals and organisations that strive for and have achieved success, best practice and innovation in vocational education and training (VET).

Established in 1946, the Brown and Hurley Group’s involvement in the Australian road transport industry spans over 70 years.

A wholly family owned Australian company employing over 400 people located across nine branches strategically located throughout Queensland and northern New South Wales.

In 2012, the Brown and Hurley Group officially opened its own purpose-built Technical Training Centre at Yatala, employing a full-time trainer to develop and deliver a long-term training program to service the business and industry needs.

Brown and Hurley staff and invited customers are said to regularly attend the Training Centre which houses the latest engines, gear boxes, differentials, and all other truck components for the Kenworth and DAF brands including a fully operational training truck. The facility is designed to replicate the branch workshops by having technicians trained using the same tooling as in their work environments.
