Myriad breaches uncovered, one company probed
New South Wales is pressing on with truck compliance activity during the cornavirus Covid-19 crisis, with 70 vehicles inspected during a recent five-day blitz.
The joint NSW Police/Transport for NSW (TFNSW) Operation Impact Dubbo in the Orana Mid-Western and Central West Police Districts between March 16-20, 2020, resulted in the following:
- 50 traffic charges (ranging from severe and critical fatigue offences, suspended driver, cancelled driver, mid-range PCA [prescribed concentration of alcohol] and severe dimension breaches).
- 22 heavy diary administrative infringements
- 3 loading offences
- 13 light vehicle infringements for speed and registration offences.

Notably one of the intercepts identified a combination of dimension and fatigue management breaches with the company contacted to arrange another driver.
“During the operation one operator was identified as having significant issues with driver fatigue offences, loading issues and general maintenance of their heavy vehicles.
“Three of their fleet were stopped on separate days and each time the driver was either charged or infringed, with one driver having critical fatigue breaches.”
An inquiry into the firm is continuing, NSW Police tells ATN, without naming it.
