Driving the Difference program applications open

Transport Women and Daimler link again in diversity effort

Applications are open for the next round of Driving the Difference scholarships.

Now in its third year and run by Transport Women Australia Limited (TWAL) with backing from Daimler Truck and Bus Australia Pacific (DTB), this year’s effort is open six women in the transport and logistics industry and those wishing to join.

The scholarships enable them to undertake a course that will advance their careers or expand their knowledge to enhance their current position or give other women the chance to become part of the industry.

The application window closes on October and recipients will be announced on November 16.

“We are so honoured to be able to join once again with Daimler Truck and Bus Australia Pacific to present the Driving the Difference scholarships for the third year, to enhance participation of women in the transport and logistics industry,” TWAL chair Jacquelene Brotherton said.

DTB president and CEO Daniel Whitehead said the company is pleased to continue its support of the program.

“The TWAL Driving the Difference scholarship program is a fantastic initiative that Daimler Truck and Bus is proud to back,” Whitehead added.

“Daimler is firmly committed to supporting gender diversity and equitable practices in the trucking and transport industry.”

DTB notes that it was the first commercial vehicle manufacturer to be accredited with the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (ECOGE) in Australia.

The EOCGE classification is designed to encourage, recognise and promote an active commitment to achieving gender equality in Australian workplaces and is a voluntary leading practice recognition program that is separate to the Equal Opportunity Act.
