Grandfather headed on far north road trip announced as winner of NTI truck raffle

Blue Mountain local Ian Fuller plans to use the prize truck to travel to Cape York as well as to visit his grandkids.

Ian Fuller this week received the keys to his new deluxe Expedition Truck, raffled by NTI to raise funds for medical research. The raffle was drawn at the NTI Supercars round in Townsville earlier this month.

The Blue Mountains local and grandfather said he had been planning a trip to Cape York in Queensland when he purchased five tickets for the raffle. The trip had been postponed due to COVID and Ian said being able to now upgrade from his campervan to the expedition vehicle was “such an amazing gift.”

The truck was the fifth to be raffled by Australia’s largest transport and logistics specialist insurer, NTI, and it raised $555,850 for Motor Neurone Disease bringing the company’s total fundraising efforts to more than $1.5 million over four years.

NTI CEO Tony Clark said he was “blown away so many people took part in this year’s raffle, helping to raise funds for life saving research.”

Mr Clark added that “every day two people are diagnosed and two people pass away from MND”. And that since their former CEO lost his own life to the disease in 2018 the company has been committed to helping find treatments.

Ian and his wife also said that aside from their trip up north, their new expedition vehicle will be great for the 300km trip they make to visit their grandkids every month on the NSW mid-north coast.
