Automatic coupling standard receives update

Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA) says Standards Australia has released AS 2213.1 that covers the selection and marking of pin type couplings.

HVIA says it has released its AS 2213.1 for public comment on ‘automatic couplings’ to determine technical standards on the heavy vehicle part.

The industry body says the standard on automatic couplings has now been updated again to benefit the heavy vehicle sector.

HVIA says it and a number of its members have been involved in the technical committee which reviewed this standard concurrently with the suite of standards covering fifth wheel couplings.

HVIA says the standard has been updated to better align with industry developments since the time of the last revision.

These updates include updating definitions that better align with definitions in regulations (such as the ADR’s and the HVNL) and gives more latitude for innovation by coupling manufacturers.

The draft document for public review may be accessed by following this link to Standards Australia Public Comment Platform Connect.
