The Lights on the Hill Convoy will not run in 2026, with organisers announcing over the weekend the event has been postponed to 2027.
The event this October will not be run due to economic pressures being felt across the Australian transport industry, with organisers recording a live message at the memorial over the weekend to announce the news.
“As much as it hurts us saying it, we want to let the trucking community and local community that supports us know that this year we won’t be running our Saturday convoy event,” the organisers said.

“It’s a lot of deliberation to come to this choice, but after talking to a lot of the trucking community amid the current economic times we’re living in, we think running an event like this is going to put too much pressure on the transport industry.
“We know there are other trucking events still going ahead this year – good on them and I hope they get the attendance they need.”
Despite this news, the memorial event will still run on October 4, with organisers confirming merchandise will still be available and an expanded memorial service is planned.
“It is devastating for all of us, but the thing is if we have an event and don’t pull it off, there might not be able to have this thing that lives on for generations to come,” the organisers said.
“I’m sorry if we’ve hurt anyone, but we feel we’re doing the right thing.
“There will still be names being put on the wall, and it’s still the same memorial service as every year. Our main focus is this wall and all the names that go on it. We are going to have a bit more at the memorial after the service this year – more of a family event – so keep an eye out for that.”
