NatRoad launches second phase of ‘Get Fleet Fit’

NatRoad

NatRoad has announced it is set to launch phase two of its ‘Get Fleet Fit’ program.

Get Fleet Fit has been designed to equip small to medium businesses and owner operators in the transport industry with knowledge and practical tools to improve fuel efficiency and reduce costs while extending the life of their vehicles.

Phase two will delve into how businesses can save money, work smarter and reduce wear and tear on their trucks and trailers, and will expand on the comprehensive five-step roadmap it launched earlier this year.

Two case studies of the successful implementation of phase one of Get Fleet Fit have been provided by NatRoad.

Beggs Bulk – Mildura, VIC

After 16 years in the industry, Ken Beggs, owner of Beggs Bulk, achieved strong results for his long-haul bulk transport business by focusing on fuel efficiency. By ‘right-sizing’ his fleet and prioritising high-tech, fuel-efficient vehicles, Beggs Bulk was able to slash fuel costs by up to $40,000 annually. Additionally, aftermarket upgrades such as aero kits and real-time driver feedback systems helped achieve fuel economy of up to 1.9 km/L, while reducing CO2 emissions by 7.4 tonnes per year.

BC Sands – Sydney, NSW

For over a decade, BC Sands has honed its operations to maximise productivity and cut costs. The introduction of an advanced order management system optimised their delivery scheduling and load management, resulting in a 10 per cent reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. By squeezing more out of every delivery and smoothing out delivery windows, BC Sands increased deliveries per driver hour by 26 per cent, giving the company a competitive edge in a crowded market.

Natroad CEO Warren Clark says the continued success of small to medium businesses and owner operators is imperative to creating and maintaining a strong Australian transport industry.

“Get Fleet Fit is about creating a stronger, more resilient industry and making a difference to the environment. By adopting these best practices, businesses can protect their bottom line and help secure a positive future for the industry,” Clark says.

“Small to medium businesses and owner operators are under constant pressure to control costs and stay competitive. Get Fleet Fit offers ideas on how to make businesses more efficient, save money and keep fleets running longer, while reducing emissions across the industry.”
