Experienced campaigner to front Western Australia’s road transport industry safety forum
Transafe WA’s committee of management has announced the appointment of Niomi Higgs to the position of chairperson.
Higgs has more than eight years’ experience in human resources and safety management roles within the transport industry. During this time she obtained an external safety accreditation, as well as an external quality accreditation.
Transafe WA points out that while Higgs was in that role, it was her responsibility to ensure the compliance of Main Roads Accreditation across all branches, including the Mass Management Module.
Higgs was the lead responder and investigator for all significant investigations and ICAM investigations when serious incidents occurred within the business, Transafe WA says.
Starting with Transafe WA as an ordinary member, Higgs has presented ‘The Hero’s Journey’ at two of its forums during 2019.
In October 2020, Higgs was voted in as vice-chair, and most recently she was voted in as chairperson at Transafe WA’s November 2021 annual general meeting.
Higgs has experience with not-for-profit organisations, having spent two years as chairperson for the Pilbara Industry Road Safety Alliance (PIRSA).
“Niomi is a highly qualified individual, holding a degree in Bachelor of Business HR Management, Bachelor of Arts: Psychology; Diploma in Work Health, Safety; Diploma in Quality Auditing; Diploma in Leadership and Management,” Transafe WA says.
“Niomi is a great asset to the Transafe WA committee and we are proud to have her as our chairperson.”
