OEMs confirm product lineups for upcoming Sydney conference

Sydney conference

Two of Australia’s leading light truck manufacturers have unveiled their product lineup for the upcoming Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authority Council (AFAC) conference, running from September 3-6 in Sydney.

Held at the International Convention and Exhibition Centre, it is ‘Australia’s most comprehensive emergency management conference and exhibition’.

Hino will be displaying one of its leading models, the 500 Series, at its stand.

“The highlight of our stand will be a 500 Series Wide Cab FG 1628 crew cab fitted with a bespoke road crash rescue body designed and built by renowned body builders Bell Fire & Rescue,” says Hino Australia product strategy manager Daniel Petrovski.

“Safety and ease of use for firefighters and mechanics were key in designing the body – additionally, all equipment is powered by either battery or the truck’s systems with an onboard inverter providing power for smaller items such as lighting.

“The FM2632 has been a perennial favourite with our fire-fighting and emergency services customers for many years and is suitable for a myriad of applications.

“The 700 Series FS2632 is the latest generation of Hino chassis and offers Euro 6 emissions compliance, and even higher levels of standard safety with the Hino SmartSafe safety package.”

Isuzu Australia, meanwhile, will be showing off an FYX 350-350 Auto 10×4 service truck (pictured at top), which has been engineered for the New South Wales Rural Fire Service.

The truck can carry a variety of loads depending on the need, with a flat skid-base suitable for transporting a range of equipment, containers, fuel, water or fire retardant by a chassis-mounted hook lift.

It will be displayed at AFAC with a 16,000 litre water tank, which it uses to transport water to crews at staging sites. It is also equipped with onboard pumps to fill water from the tank to other firefighting units nearby.

“The emergency sectors that rely on Isuzu products are operating in often unprecedented conditions, from fire fronts to flood waters,” says Isuzu Australia national fleet sales manager Grant Walford.

“Whether it’s our trucks, power units, standalone engines or generators that are called on, our goal is to provide a product that performs efficiently and that won’t fail when community safety and lives are on the line.

“Isuzu has become synonymous with the phrase Reliability is Everything, which we realise is especially paramount to our friends in the emergency services.

“The Isuzu team is looking forward to demonstrating our engineering and support capacity for this essential sector and having timely conversations around planning for the smooth transition to new vehicles and plant equipment.”
