Online carrier register ‘boosts COR compliance’

Web-based solution provider says new safety register will cut administrative costs and boost COR compliance

An internet-based transport solution provider has launched a national transport safety register promising to cut administrative costs and boost chain of responsibility compliance.

The online register from Kajeeva Solutions, Safe Space, allows transport carriers to provide freight senders with easy-to-access, real-time information on everything from insurance to licenses, and records of completed training courses.

Safe Space also allows drivers to undertake online safety training such as fatigue management courses and to complete site inductions procedures.

Kajeeva’s Nick Williams claims the system will help chain of responsibility compliance.

“Unlicensed or uninsured cowboys or drivers who have not had the right safety training won’t get through the gate,” he says.

Safe Space accounts are self managed by drivers, who will be able to ensure that the information contained in them matches the needs of clients.

“Those clients will in turn have access to that information and will be alerted automatically when a problem arises,” Williams says. “For example, they will be automatically notified when a license expires or an insurance policy is not renewed.”

The company is currently negotiating with a number of large manufacturers with a heavy dependence on road freight provided by sub-contractors.

“Some of these companies have multiple sites across Australia and at the moment each of these sites must keep an enormous amount of driver information on file,” Williams says.

“Many are struggling with this burden, things are falling through the cracks, and they run the risk of something going terribly wrong. Safe Space efficiently gives each real-time, online access to the same set of data no matter where they are.”
