Kenworth loyalists Lindsay Australia takes delivery of 200th Kenworth truck for its national fleet

October 13, 2009

A large proportion of Lindsay Australia’s 200-strong national fleet are Kenworths. So it’s no surprise to learn the Queensland-based operator has taken delivery of its 200th Kenworth-badged rig.

The T408, configured for use with 26m B-doubles hauling refrigerated produce on interstate routes, was sold by Coffs Harbour dealer Brown and Hurley.

The vehicle is powered by a 15-litre, Cummins ISX engine, generating 525 hp and 1850 ft/lb torque, with an Eaton RTLO18918 transmission and Meritor RT46-160GP differentials riding on Kenworth Airglide 460 rear suspension.

To identify the T408 as a milestone truck it has a number of distinctive features, including unique heritage gauges and a specially embossed interior with ‘Lindsay Transport 200th Truck’.

“One of Kenworth’s major advantages is that they can spec their trucks for a variety of applications, from line haul and B-Double work through to roadtrain operations,” says Glen Lindsay, General Manager of Lindsay Australia and son of co-founder Tom Lindsay.

“That’s important to us. We need trucks that are flexible and capable of tackling variety of applications, in other words do the job and go the distance. Kenworth trucks live up to that promise.

“Kenworth offers us a solid package – quality trucks that are productive and reliable, and excellent after-sales service wherever and whenever we need it. You pay a little more for a Kenworth, but you get back so much more in terms of performance, dependability and lower whole-of-life costs.”
