A young mechanic from MTU Detriot Diesel has been named apprentice of the year at the annual Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of Queensland (CVIAQ) gala.

Lochlin McKean thanked the company for their support in accepting the prize, which includes a laptop and tool package.

McKean is due to complete his Certificate 3 as an automotive specialist.
