The production of JAC Trucks in Australia will start in June, with the light-duty trucks hitting Australian roads in September

Light-duty JAC Trucks will hit the Australian roads this September after the approval for the production of Australian models was recently granted.

JAC Trucks Australia Managing Director Jason Pecotic says the production of the Australian models will start in June after the Australian Department of Transport and Road Safety (DOTARS) signed off on compliance for the trucks last week.

“Meeting the requirements and necessary documentation demanded by DOTARS was never going to be an issue however it was still a major achievement as we move closer to launch in Australia,” Pecotic says.

“JAC was always keen to achieve Australian compliance locked in but more significantly to understand the requirements and expectations of legislators in one of the most competitive markets in the world where we have some of the most demanding design standards.”

Chinese-owned JAC has recorded a growth of 80 percent in sales last year.

It has been the leading exporter of light-duty trucks in China for the past eight years, shipping its vehicles to more than 100 countries throughout Europe, Asia, the American and the Middle East.

The company was founded in 1964 and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2001.

“There area a myriad of truck and automotive makers in China in what is a burgeoning market but what sets JAC apart is its absolute focus on becoming a global player and in matching and bettering the standards set by leading Japanese, European and US manufacturers,” Pecotic says.
