JAC sees first truck enter work

Queensland removals company takes to the highways straight after picking up the keys

December 17, 2012

Chinese manufacturer JAC Trucks has hailed an Australian first with a Queensland removals firm taking delivery of one of its light-duty vehicles.

Furniture Removals &Transport ran the JAC J65 for more than 3,000 km in its first week of ownership, after regional manager Bill Watt took the keys from Sales Manager Gunther Kettniss of Sunshine Coast dealer Ray Grace Truck Centre at Woombye.

JAC says the 6.5 tonne GMV truck went on a round trip to Clermont and Blackall for its first assignment, despite it being aimed primarily for local delivery work around the Sunshine Coast and hinterland.

It quotes Watt as praising the 3.8 litre Cummins ISF engine and the price, put at $20,000 less than a comparable Japanese brand.

“Generally we will confine it to the local runs up to Hervey Bay in the north and down to the Gold Coast in the south, but it’s good to know she will handle a longer run with ease if we need to,” he is quoted as saying.
