Hammar Australia electric sideloader in first use

Mobile self- loading container equipment manufacturer claims world first

June 25, 2013

Swedish container lifting specialist Hammar says its electric sideloader is now in use with a Queensland customer.

The Australian arm of Hammar developed what it says is the world-first technology.

The company says the unit is serving its operator “quite well”.

From Hammar’s founding in 1974, its sideloaders have been powered by either a diesel power pack or the prime mover’s PTO.

Unlike these engine-driven sideloaders, when the electric sideloader is not working, its motor shuts down.

The electric motor is also quieter and lighter, says Hammar.

The company says there is a price premium of about ten percent, with that expected to fall.

Users will have the choice of mains-charging batteries, prime mover charging or generator charging.
