Jost to lift weight off drivers with Velocity Landing Leg Drive

Automated solution aims to help truck drivers when hitching or unhitching trailers.

Industry parts supplier Jost Australia will use next month’s Brisbane Truck Show to launch two products aimed at making the lives of truck drivers easier.

The Velocity Landing Leg Drive and Velocity Electronic Tarpaulin System will be on display at the show, which runs from May 14 to 17.

The Leg Drive aims to reduce driver stress injuries and improve unhitching and hitching efficiency.

The unit is capable of significantly reducing the time taken to bring a trailer’s legs down compared to manually cranking a trailer.

It features a variety of operating modes, including lowering and raising the trailer legs, lowering and lifting the trailer itself and standby mode. It also has a wireless remote.

“This will be a game changer for the automatic leg drives in Australia,” Jost Australia managing director Ed Crowther says.

“Never has such advanced technology been implemented into the transport industry in such a simple way.”

The Velocity Electronic Tarpaulin System is a versatile tarp control solution based on similar technology to the leg drive.

Additionally, Jost will be displaying its new line of premium forged wheel products, a line that was launched two years ago at the 2013 Brisbane Truck Show.

“Since then Jost has expanded the range to include all the industry favourites including 9-inch offsets and super-single steers,” Jost Australia wheel product manager Mike McCosker says.
