Trackside fun at Volvo’s Swedish demo centre

It was organised chaos at the impressive Volvo demonstration centre in Gothenburg on the west coast of Sweden, with only two rules: no reversing and no overtaking.

More than a dozen loaded trucks coming and going from their parking point at a test track involving a steep hill, several sharp turns and a couple of long straights on which you can get up a good head of steam.

Drivers jumping out of one truck,including Volvo’s 750hp model, and racing over to the next, lots of laughs and at least a couple of drivers who don’t even have truck licenses. No traffic lights, stop-go men or even fluoro vests to be seen.

Great fun was had by all and we checked out several recent Volvo technical innovations including crawler gears, the dual clutch and electronic dynamic steering at Volvo Trucks’ test track at Gothenburg, Sweden.
