Advanced emergency braking issue triggers callback of over 700 trucks
A recall has been issued of 707 Scania trucks due to an emergency braking defect.
The affected trucks are from the “PGR series specified without Tachograph (TCO) but with Advanced Emergency Braking (AEB)”, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) notice states.
The AEB software for vehicles without a tachograph has not been downgraded, which can “lead to the vehicle braking in such a way that the trailer becomes difficult to handle, posing an accident risk to road users”.
According to the notice, a software update will resolve the issue.
Scania Australia will contact owners of affected vehicles by direct mail.
Customers are also advised to contact their nearest Scania branch or dealer for more details.
