Rollover sensor to reduce fire risk

The Redarc ROS is reported to be able to cut power to a truck's electrical system when a rollover is imminent.

 

The new Redarc Roll Over Sensor has been developed to maximise safety in the event of a rollover truck accident, according to CoolDrive.

CoolDrive says the new Redarc ROS1224 meets the latest legislative requirements for roll-over sensing, triggering the vehicle’s battery master isolation switch when an imminent accident is detected, cutting power to the truck’s electrical system.

Risk of fire in a roll-over accident is thus greatly reduced, as is damage to the truck’s electrical system, CoolDrive says.

The Redarc ROS is said to utilise two accelerometers specifically designed for automotive safety applications to avoid false triggering, housed in a durable UV resistant case impervious to water and rock damage.

CoolDrive says lifetime testing in Australia’s harshest operational and environmental conditions has confirmed it is immune to vibration, bumps, shock and electrical transients, and resilient to heavy vehicle electrical environments.

An optional dash-mounted lamp readily accessible by the truck’s driver will also indicate faults as an additional safety feature of the roll-over sensing system.

CoolDrive states that the Redarc ROS is highly accurate and reliable, and is compatible with existing isolation switches, is easy and quick to install quickly, and its multi-pin plug suits both 12V and 24V systems. It’s also IP66, IP67 and IP69K rated, says CoolDrive.
