Automatic transmission output flange may develop wear due to torque fluctuation in over 200 vehicles
A recall has been issued of a total of 237 Hino 500 Series trucks, although not all of these vehicles were sold in Australia.
According to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) notice, the “automatic transmission output flange may develop wear due to torque fluctuation of the engine and as a result of frequent acceleration and deceleration”.
“This wear could allow the output flange bolt to come loose causing oil leakage and the transmission warning light to come on,” the notice states.
“In the worst case scenario, the driveshaft may detach from the vehicle while the vehicle is being operated.
“This may create an accident risk for the vehicle user and other road users or bystanders.”
Owners are advised to return their vehicle to the nearest authorised Hino Dealership for inspection and repair at no cost.
