HMA Materials Handling (HMA) has welcomed a fleet boost comprising 10 MAN TGM 15.290 4×4 trucks with hi-rail equipment to traverse roads and rail tracks.

The NSW-based outfit, in conjunction with Penske Commercial Vehicles (PCV) and local MAN Truck and Bus dealer Hartwigs, took delivery of the dual-cab units equipped to carry up to six personnel, which also come with a Fassi crane in the rear to transport equipment between truck and track.

While on rail tracks, the 4×4 units drive through the rear wheels with the front wheel assembly lifted off the tracks and the hi-rail assembly engaged.

“In addition to rail, MAN is a major supplier into the various essential services segments such as power, infrastructure maintenance, mining support, and airport equipment, to name a few,” PCV regional sales manager Don Meluccy says.

“Penske Commercial Vehicles and Hartwigs worked together to supply these bespoke units to HMA to meet the required specifications.

“These trucks are extremely versatile and unique, and projects such as this one allow us to showcase the flexibility of MAN while delivering maximum safety for occupants and other workers in the vicinity, low whole-of-life costs, great fuel efficiency, and superior comfort.”

Hartwigs sales manager Charlie Hartwig adds: “We worked closely with HMA to ensure that the TGMs were delivered to specification within the required timeframe,”

“We look forward to a long partnership with HMA delivering MAN trucks for both on-and off-highway applications.”
