Borg gains 25th anniversary Volvo FH16

Family touch in prime mover for doors and panels manufacturer

Long-term Volvo customer Borg Manufacturing has taken delivery of a special edition 25th anniversary Volvo FH16.

The striking vehicle has been dedicated to parents Vivian and Paul the Borg, for the support and guidance they have given to sons Michael, John and Darren and features the highest Volvo technological specifications.

This latest technology consists of a Second Information Display for the driver with touch screen which includes an internet portal to support Dynafleet, GPS navigation, Spotify, weather forecast and even a digital version of the operator’s manual.

Adding to this is Volvo Dynamic Steering Evolution – electronically assisted steering with customisable personal settings and a unique lane keeping function that helps the driver stay in the middle of the lane by applying gentle corrections to the steering, or in the most extreme cases of skidding, automatically counter steers and apply the brakes to individual wheels, in order to give the driver full control of the vehicle as quickly and safely as possible.

In addition, the truck comes with I-See, a terrain reading cruise control system that uses G PS and cloud technology to read the road ahead and prepares the whole powertrain for different road gradients. A crawler gear equipped I-Shift transmission provides a gear for all circumstances this truck may encounter.

All anniversary Volvo FH’s are also EXSTER capable, meaning that a third-party remote control unit can be connected to the truck allowing it to be operated from outside the cab at speeds up to 10 km/h. The FH 25th anniversary edition is the most innovative and advanced Volvo truck available on the Australian market.

Borg Manufacturing is one of Volvo Trucks Australia’s largest customers and has been a customer for more than a decade.

“We wanted to do something special to honour Vivian and Paul,” Volvo Trucks Australia vice president Tony O’Connel says.

“We are incredibly proud and humbled to have a loyal family like the Borgs as valued customers.

“Their commitment to Volvo Trucks has not been taken for granted and we hope they enjoy the new truck and all the feature that come with it.”

In 2017, the Borg family were honoured as Volvo Visionaries, members of the Volvo Trucks Australia community who are considered to have made a difference and positively impacted the lives of others.

“The Borgs have been recognised for both their hard work in building their business from the ground up, and also for their innovative vision in recognising and capitalising upon business opportunities,” Volvo says.
