Finemore hails increased productivity through 30-metre B-doubles
A busy Ron Finemore Transport (RFT) has taken delivery of Volvo number 300 Volvo as it spotlights positive outcomes from its 30m B-double combination innovation.
CMV Truck & Bus Albury/Wodonga had the honour for delivering the newest FH 540 to the company’s linehaul fleet, which features Volvo Truck’s Fuel Face technology comprising efficiency-focused features including its I-See terrain reading cruise control.
“With our trucks hauling loads of food and fuel between centres such as Barnawartha, Wagga, ACT, Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne, we need safe, reliable and fuel-efficient vehicles,” RFT MD Mark Parry says.
“The extensive Volvo Group service network across Australia means vehicle downtime is kept to a minimum, allowing us to maintain the high level of service expected by our customers.
“This prime mover represents a partnership based on trust, support and innovation, and we look forward to this continuing into the future.”
Local manufacturing and engineering is also a tick for the company.
“The fact that these trucks are engineered and built here in Australia provides a level of agility and adaptability for our business,” Parry says.
CMV Truck & Bus general manager Miles Crawford hails the relationship between dealer and operator as “incredibly important to our business”.
“The total offer, the relationship and the ownership experience is something that lives long after the truck hits the road,” Crawford says.
“Each of the 300 prime delivered to Ron Finemore Transport over the years has also supported numerous local suppliers within this area,” CMV Albury/Wodonga sales manager Brent Fuge adds.

RFT also offers an insight into its new high-productivity B-double trailers, now in operation following positive trials with a range of customers, which focused on manoeuvrability in the bays at distribution centres and customer sites.
“Coupled to the latest technology Euro prime-movers, the new MaxiTrans 30m long B-double is set to provide increased productivity for our customers,” Parry says.
“The Next Gen B-double will have the capacity to handle several additional pallets, meaning that for every five loads, the Next Gen B-Double will replace one fully loaded B-double High Cube trailer, reducing road congestion whilst reducing our carbon footprint and our interactions in and around vendor sites and DCs.
“The Next Generation B-double is 4m longer than the existing B-doubles, increases the available cubic space by approximately 17 per cent, has three steer axles making the turning circle equal to or better than the existing trailers, and due to the number of axles sharing the load, is easier on the existing road surface which reduces impact and wear.”

The combination will initially operate on the Melbourne to Brisbane corridor.
RFT notes NSW regional roads minister Paul Toole granted permission to operate the new longer trucks on key supply corridors provided they came with improved safety features.
“Higher capacity vehicles mean less trucks on the road which reduces congestion and wear and tear on our road networks,” RFT quotes him as saying.
“Larger loads means more supplies and getting the food and produce to where it needs to be a lot quicker.”
