UD Quon recalled over bearing cup defect

Some bearing cups possibly assembled without thrust washer

UD Quon recalled over bearing cup defect
The defect poses a universal joint break risk

Volvo Group Australia (VGA) is recalling 527 UD Quons over a bearing cup issue that may cause propeller shaft detachments.

Some of the bearing cups in the front and/or inter-axles have been assembled without a thrust washer, the recall notice explains.

If the vehicle is operated under these conditions, the universal joint may ultimately break.

"If the universal joint breaks, the propeller shaft may detach, causing the vehicle to become inoperable or causing an accident resulting in injury or death to the vehicle occupant and/or other road users."

The recall impacts model-year 2017-2019 UD pPNLT Quon trucks.

Affected owners will be contacted and advised to make an appointment with their nearest VGA dealership to arrange for repair.
