DAF CF recall over air brake issue

System may not comply with relevant Australian Design Rule

Nearly 100 model-year 2020-21 DAF CF 6×4 trucks are being recalled by parent company Paccar Australia.

The prime mover air brake system may not comply with the Australian Design Rule (ADR).

In the event of a total trailer air brake system air loss, the prime mover and trailer brakes will automatically apply, increasing the risk of losing control of the vehicle.

“If this occurs it may result in a loss of vehicle control, which would increase the risk of a crash and injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users,” the recall notice reads.

“This would also be non-compliant with ADR35/06.”

Owners will be contacted and advised to make an immediate appointment with their nearest Paccar Australia DAF dealer to arrange for a technician to inspect and repair the vehicle.
