New management for Scania Laverton

Gurkin to relish adding 770hp prime mover to dealership’s showroom

Scania Australia has announced that it’s Laverton North dealership is under new management with Steven Gurkin at the helm.

The Boundary Road-based heavy truck and bus company-owned sales and service facility has been revitalised by the arrival of the highly-experienced newcomer.

Scania says Gurkin is an experienced truck dealership manager with more than a decade of experience in the retail automotive industry as well. He plans to bring a new style of management to the Laverton branch.

“I’m a fresh face, bringing a fresh set of ideas to the dealership. It’s vital for us to deliver excellent customer service and that will be my focus. We have a lot of  customers who operate very time-sensitive businesses and they need their trucks and buses back on the road as quickly as possible,” Gurkin says.

“We have already recruited additional technicians to the workshop teams, so now we have a full complement for morning and afternoon shifts, to be able to process more service actions each day. Time is money, after all.

“We have been lucky to be able to source some highly experienced technicians to join our teams, and we are reorganising the ‘front of house’ to make it even more customer-centric,” he says.

“However, we are still on the lookout for more talented team members to join us at Laverton in a variety of roles within the dealership, across a number of disciplines, including apprentices.

“I am really excited to be joining Scania now,” Gurkin says. “The workshop is very busy and Scania has been making significant investments in its parts and service division, including opening a massive new national parts warehouse in Campbellfield with four-times the capacity of its previous facility. That means we’ll have better access to parts more quickly, which again helps get our customers back on the road faster.

“I am looking forward to meeting up with our many customers over the next few months and demonstrating to them our increased commitment to customer service at Scania Laverton.

“As a company, Scania is leading the shift towards a sustainable transport solution, offering alternative and renewable fuel solutions as well as introducing exciting new product that is more fuel efficient and the safest trucks on the road,” Gurkin says.

“Plus, we’ll have the new Scania 770hp V8 engine to sell in 2022, the most powerful on-road truck available in Australia.”
