Bridgestone receive new Iveco trucks

Bridgestone says the new trucks will improve the company’s overall service offering in the mining sector.

Northern Australian based company Bridgestone Mining Solutions has received three new IVECO X-Way AT 8×4 rigid trucks to support its mining operations.

The trucks, fitted with tray bodies and tire handling cranes, will be predominantly used to assist in transporting and changing tires for the company’s mining vehicles.

Iveco says the trucks are equipped with a large, powerful engine and a wide range of gears, as well as a suite of safety features including Electronic Braking System (EBS) and Electronic Stability Program (ESP).

The trucks’ cranes can also easily handle tires up to 57 inches in size.

Bridgestone Northern Region Operations Manager Andy Gee says the trucks were chosen because they met several key criteria for the company.

“We’ve enjoyed good outcomes from our other IVECO trucks – repairs and maintenance and whole of life costing has been very good with these,” says Gee.

“Bridgestone has a ‘zero harm policy’, meaning we strive to operate without negatively impacting people and the environment, which is why the X-Way’s safety and low emission package was so attractive to us.”

The trucks were also well received by Bridgestone’s drivers.

“One of the trucks was driven from Brisbane to our site in Darwin by one of our experienced operators, who has worked for many years as a driver and driven a heap of truck brands, and he was really impressed. The trucks are also proving to be good on fuel,” says Gee.
