Recharge Petroleum acquires Adelaide Fuel Distributors

Recharge Petroleum now employs 300 people across its business as it grows its fuel delivery network in South Australia

Recharge Petroleum has announced it has completed the acquisition of Adelaide Fuel Distributors.

The acquisition sees Recharge acquire the business from Fredricks Petroleum, including the fuel transport assets for bulk fuel and onsite distribution businesses, lubricant warehouses, 10 service stations and unmanned refuelling locations.

“The expansion will leverage the synergies between Recharge Petroleum’s established networks into South Australia, unlocking even more opportunities for our customers to access bp fuel throughout these key markets,” Recharge Petroleum owner Neale Crawford says.

In the coming weeks, the 10 Adelaide Fuel Distributors service stations and unmanned refuelling locations will be rebranded to BP as Recharge Petroleum expand its retail presence with BP in South Australia.

Adelaide Fuel Distributors was founded by Bryson Fredericks in 1971 in the town of Seaford south of Adelaide. It has since expanded to operate 16 delivery trucks that deliver bulk fuels and lubricants from depots in Cavan and Seaford.

Recharge Petroleum, owned by brothers Neale Crawford and Steven Crawford, has been a bp distributor for over eight years, representing the bp brand in the Pilbara and Kimberley regions of Western Australia and revitalising bp’s market presence in the Northern Territory and now South Australia.

The Crawford family of Recharge Petroleum looks forward to continuing to provide Adelaide Fuel Distributors customers with the highest level of service and products that they had been accustomed to from the Fredricks family over the previous 50 years.

Following the acquisition, Recharge Petroleum now employs 300 staff across its wholesale and retail businesses, operating 30 service stations and unmanned refuelling locations, and own and operate a fleet of a hundred trucks that provide fuel deliveries to an area spanning more than half of Australia.

This move in South Australia follows the acquisition of 195 OTR service station sites by Viva Energy in March this year, with bp also acquiring South Australian fuel retailer X Convenience recently.
