Roadworks set for Warrego Highway

Drivers are advised to be aware of upcoming roadworks on Queensland's Warrego Highway, starting from late January.

Construction is set to begin on stretches of Queensland’s Warrego Highway in late January, expecting to take three weeks to complete, weather and site conditions permitting.

The pavement repair and resurfacing will be undertaken in two sections westbound on the highway, between Kholo Road and Wulkuraka Connection Road, Blacksoil.

Expect traffic changes such as road shoulder and lane closures and speed limit reductions while asphalt is removed and replaced and temporary line markings are reinstated.

Construction will mostly take place at night, from 8pm to 5am, Sunday to Friday. However, some Saturday or out of hours work may be required.

Due to the nature of the works, detours are to be expected.

The Fernvale Road on-ramp to Warrego Highway will be closed for three nights, between 9pm and 5am, with traffic detours in place.

Westbound access to the highway will be detoured, with northbound traffic on Fernvale Road diverted via the Warrego Highway eastbound and onto the Kholo Road exit, then back onto the Warrego Highway westbound.

Southbound traffic from Fernvale Road will be detoured via the Fernvale Road, onto Pine Mountain Road and back onto the Warrego Highway westbound.

Six weeks after completion, final line markings to improve the reflectivity and longevity of the road line marking will be applied.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads advises drivers to allow extra time and planning for their trips.
