South-east Queensland freight routes impacted by cyclone flooding

Two red alerts have impacted major highways in the region, with Cyclone Alfred causing flash flooding and power outages on key freight routes

The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has provided an update on freight traffic conditions throughout south-east Queensland, including Brisbane, as flooding continues to impact the area following Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

There are currently red alerts in place for both the Bruce Highway and the Pacific Motorway due to adverse conditions caused by the cyclone.

In Narangba, north of Brisbane, the Bruce Highway is impacted due to powerlines being down across numerous Moreton Bay City areas.

All lanes are impacted in all directions, with multiple traffic signal outages occurring in the area due to the cyclone’s wild weather.

In the metropolitan Brisbane and Ipswich areas, the Pacific Motorway has multiple road closures and traffic signal outages impacting travel due to the cyclone.

All lanes are impacted in all directions, with flooding and traffic signal outages wreaking havoc across the freight route.

Outside of this, there is debris on Mount Glorious Road through Banks Creek and Dundas due to fallen vegetation from Mount Nebo, courtesy of the floods.

Land slips are also impacting traffic all traffic in the area, ranging from Mount Nebo to Wivenhoe Somerset Road.

There’s flash flooding at Nambour Connection Road, with long delays expected due to multiple roads being blocked in the area.

Long-term flooding is also being seen at Mooloolah Connection Road, Mooloolah River Bridge, Maleny Kenilworth Road in Conondale, Yandina Bli Bli Road in Parklands, Bli Bli Road in Nambour and at Old Maroochydore Road.
