Moving customers and businesses ahead by ensuring they have access to the highest-quality parts, exceptional product availability, and industry-leading service is what drives PACCAR Parts forward.

“Our dealer network thrives on passion focused solely on supporting our customers,” PACCAR Parts General Manager Damian Smethurst says.

“This passion exudes everywhere across the company’s dealer network, he says.

A division of PACCAR Inc., PACCAR Parts is a global leader in the distribution, sales and marketing of aftermarket parts for heavy and medium-duty trucks, trailers and engines.

Decades of industry-leading parts distribution processes, remarkable customer service and quality products have made PACCAR Parts one of the most trusted names in the transport sector.

PACCAR Parts distributes quality OEM and aftermarket products, and provides aftersales support with an industry-leading range of high-quality products to 64 Kenworth, DAF dealers and TRP store locations in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

The team at PACCAR Parts is passionate about creating and maintaining strategic relationships with suppliers, building synergies wherever possible to maximise supply performance, product availability and product quality.

Technical sales and pricing manager Trevor Dickson believes just that.

Having worked with PACCAR Parts for nearly four decades, Dickson views the key to success as “building and maintaining close relationships with users, dealers, and suppliers to ensure the best products and services for all our customers”.

PACCAR Parts works closely with all dealers to improve retail availability.

“Availability is the name of the game. Our dealers have stock on the shelf. We work closely with dealers to maximise the chances of immediately filling every customer order”, Smethurst says.

PACCAR Australia continues to invest heavily in new product development. The most recent examples include the T360, T410 plus additional sleeper offerings. The move to locally manufacture DAF trucks has also been very well received.

Smethurst says he is proud of “PACCAR’s unwavering commitment and continued investment in Australian manufacturing and Australian engineering that supports thousands of jobs all over the country”.

PACCAR Parts has also been investing in the latest warehouse technologies with an aim to improve delivery speed and accuracy.

Its Berrinba Parts Distribution Centre (PDC) in Brisbane was the company’s first PDC to use 100 per cent voice pick technology.

The team uses special headsets that tell them the part location and what to pick – and also in what order to determine the most efficient pick pattern.

“Voice-pick technology allows our distribution associates to have two hands free and keep their eyes where they are picking. This enhances quality, efficiency and safety,” says Paul Hogben, Berrinba PDC manager.

PACCAR has also invested in ‘wire guidance’ technology in some of their PDCs. Wire guidance is an electromechanical system that controls vehicle steering by tracking an energised guidewire secured in the floor.

This system frees operators from steering responsibilities in very narrow aisles, such as those that stock PACCAR’s smaller stock items.

It is all a part of the company’s mission to ensure the right part at the right time is available to its valued customers. And this is what PACCAR’s Bayswater PDC manager Kylie Kurczewski outlines in her passion for her work.

“Developing people and processes to perform as effectively as possible to support our customers” is what motivates her most, she says.

Focus on product availability

However, the company’s mission to drive customer uptime cannot be achieved without efficient product availability. PACCAR Australia PDCs stock over 250,000 parts for sale at any given time.

“Availability, quality and service are the cornerstone to the success of PACCAR and its dealer network,” PACCAR National sales and marketing manager Michael Long says.

“Ensuring the availability of parts and service to customers is the number one thing we need to do in the aftermarket business.”

PACCAR’s dealer network covers all major routes around the country, stocking a wide range of genuine and branded replacement truck parts to fit all models of Kenworth and DAF trucks in addition to certain US and European drivelines and trailers.

“Our commitment to parts availability and quality backed with technical expertise is designed to give you peace of mind and maximise your uptime on the road,” Long says.

PACCAR Parts understands the importance and the need for customers to maintain their fleet. That is why the team at PACCAR Parts proudly embraces the ongoing challenge to keep customers moving with older vehicles.

“Customer satisfaction is our passion, whether it be supporting our latest model trucks, such as the T360 or T410, or those who are passionate about restoring our legendary historical model range,” Long says.

“Our people know parts, like you know trucks,” Smethurst states.

“We’re not just the market-leading truck parts distributor, we’re also an industry leader in technical expertise. Our promise is to always strive to deliver customers the right part, to the right place, at the right time.”
