Sydney freight and delivery movements face weekend disruption due to road closures related to Sunday’s Sydney Running Festival.
All events start at Bradfield Park at Milsons Point, with the half and full marathons finishing at the Sydney Opera House and the Family Fun Run and Bridge Run finishing at the Sydney Conservatory, police say.
The first event, the Half Marathon, starts at 6.15am; the Sydney Marathon, at 7.20am; the Family Fun Run, at 7.50am; and the Bridge Run, at 9am.
Major road closures include the Sydney Harbour Bridge, including approaches, Bradfield Highway and Cahill Expressway; Bridge Street, College Street, Hickson Road, Macquarie Street, Oxford Street, Alfred Street South, Lavender Street, Anzac Parade, Cleveland Street, Flinders Street, Lang Road and Moore Park Road.
The Sydney Harbour Bridge and roads in North Sydney, the Sydney CBD, Surry Hills and Pyrmont will start closing from 4am, while roads in Moore Park will close from 6am.
Roads will be progressively re-opened once the course is cleared, with the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Cahill Expressway expected to re-open by 11am and all other roads expected to be re-opened by 1.30pm.
Special event clearways will also be in place between 1am and 1.30pm. Motorists are advised to check signs before parking as vehicles left in special event clearways will be towed and fines apply. This includes vehicles with local parking permits.
